The scales produced by Avery, a British manufacturer which enjoyed its golden years in the early 20th century, were distinctive for their chrome-plated edges and very curvy bases and dials,
setting them apart from the iconic red Berkel scales whose volumes and decorations were more understated. The bowl pan of this little black version is designed to make it easier to pour out flour, fine grains or liquids.
